LAKES,
RIVERS AND STREAMS
Although most of
the earths surface is covered in
water, little of it is actually
fresh water. In Ontario, these
surface water supplies harbor
numerous aquatic plants and
animals and provide a bountiful
supply of recreational value to
users.
Pollution such as
acid rain fallout, agriculture,
industrial and residential
developments can create
conditions which degrade the
overall water quality of these
lakes, rivers or streams. Once
degraded it can become a terminal
condition for the lake or wetland
unless the source of the
pollution can be removed or
eliminated.
Testing or
sampling of lakes and streams is
not permitted under the mandate
of the Provincial Laboratory -
Ministry of Long Term and Health.
Depending upon the location,
other ministry studies or
sampling programs may already
have been done on the water
quality. As a service to our
customers, Canadian Shield
Consultant Agency Inc. maintains
a good liason with municipal and
government agencies to provide
the most accurate and up to date
information.
